THE COMPANY

The Global Service Center (GSC)

Located in St. Louis, the Global Service Center of MasterCard provides 24-hour assistance / services to cardholders and members / financial institutions all over the world.  A large percentage of our representatives, approximately 80%, are at least bilingual.  Some representatives even speak as many as five languages.  The GSC supports over 26 languages.

 

GSC’s role is:

-To provide emergency assistance to cardholders, canceling credit and debit MasterCards, providing emergency cards or emergency cash advances.

-To support the relationship between members / financial institutions and cardholders, addressing the correct department for customer requests.

THE TRAINEESHIP

OVERVIEW

The MasterCard Traineeship consists of working as a customer service representative in MasterCard’s Global ServiceCenter fielding customer service calls from around the world. The internship lasts a minimum of eight months and a maximum of eighteen months.

The interns are also involved in different language support related projects, working directly with members / financial institutions or various departments within MasterCard International.

This traineeship is not an advanced management traineeship, and the main experience that will be gained is knowledge of how an international call center operates and how customer service in an organization such as MasterCard is handled. Additionally, this internship is an excellent opportunity to enhance your English speaking skills, while providing customers support in their native languages as well. 

SPECIFICS

Working Hours: As the Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, each trainee will rotate among the 3 shifts (morning, afternoon, and night) for 1/3 of their traineeship. The trainee will get 2 days off per week but likely will work at least one day on the weekend. Trainees will be expected to work during holidays but don't worry, Holiday celebrations normally last more than 1 day (not just on the actual holiday) so you can still observe part of the celebration.

Duration: 8 months minimum, up to 18 months

Academic Background: No specific academic background is required
